biography

John Barlow founded the haiku magazine Snapshots in 1998, followed by the UKs first ever tanka journal Tangled Hair in 1999, and continues to edit both publications.

John is also the editor of numerous haiku and tanka collections, and coeditor of The New Haiku (Snapshot Press, 2001). An experienced contest adjudicator, he has selected haiku for three annual editions of The Haiku Calendar.

He works as a graphic designer, and lives on the Northern edge of Liverpool, a short walk from the sea.

He has also edited haiku collections by Tom Clausen, David Cobb, Matt Morden, Caroline Gourlay, Maurice Tasnier, et al. His personal haiku collection, Flamingo Shapes (Snapshot Press, 2001), was recently released [read the review in haijinx II:1]. A collection of his selected haiku, Waiting for the Seventh Wave, is due in 2002.
