
Kuniharu Shimizu was born in Tenri, Nara, Japan (1949). He received his BFA from the University of Hawaii. While in Hawaii, a painting of his won a purchase award at Artists of Hawaii Exhibition, and became part of a permanent collection at Honolulu Academy of Arts. Kuniharu has won design awards, including the Ichiretu-kai Scholarship Foundation Logo Mark contest, 1st place and the Japan Toy Accosiation Logo Mark contest, 1st place. Kuniharu became an ordained minister of Tenrikyo Church in 1978 and has since held numerous administrative positions at Tenrikyo Church Headquarters. He is presently the vice-president of Doyusha (a section of Tenrikyo HQ which deals with various media), and a chief of Tenrikyo Internet Committee.
