
Michi Umeda has been composing haiku in Japanese for nearly 10 years. She now belongs to a haiku group named "Kanran". Two years ago, she saw information about the MIFA (Meguro International Friendship Association) International Haiku Circle. There she met the MIFA leaders Yasuomi Koganei and Catherine Urquhart (Scotland). She says that she appreciates Catherine's advice on how to compose haiku in English. She used to live in Kamakura, and now though she lives in Tokyo. She loves to go to Kamakura to write haiku and see wildflowers.
