In Memoriam

New York — Washington — Pennsylvania

The editors and staff of haijinx joined most of the world in a deep, shared sorrow that resulted from the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Each of us struggles to find meaning in the events of that day, and to find how we exist in this new world that is in the process of forming all about us. We mourn for what was, we seek ways to express ourselves, and we look, perhaps with hesitation, towards the future looming large. Recognizing that many have a need to share themselves, and that many more can find comfort or direction in the shared words of others, we offer this memorial site.

Here you can find bare emotions of poets from around the world reacting directly to the attacks themselves. And also the hopeful visions of caring as people joined together in the aftermath.

There are also links to several other tribute sites, as well as to resources where you can find help or offer help. These can be found on the "fin" page of this issue.

We grieve with the world; we offer our prayers and our help to the victims and their families, and we hope for a future bright with compassion.

For the editors and staff at haijinx,
